We all have our guilty pleasures. Romance novels. Any of the “Real Housewives” TV shows. B-movies. The Budweiser family of beers. For me, it’s the Philly Cheesesteak with all the fixing’s from Jerry’s Subs and Pizzas.

So good, yet so bad.

For some strange reason or another, I just love this sandwich. To be totally honest, I can’t exactly fully explain what it is about this sandwich that makes me crave it every time I’m in Maryland. The sandwich certainly has its flaws (too much lettuce, the tomatoes fall out every time, there’s way too much mayo, they say there are onion on the sandwich but I’ve never seen them), but, at the same time, it has enough good stuff going on to continually make me go back for more. The meat is very well done but sliced thick enough so that each bite has a consistent amount of each ingredient (after the tomatoes fall out that is). The extraordinary amount of mayo gives the sandwich a juiciness which interacts with the cheese. The cheese is so thin you can’t even see it on the sandwich as a slice, it’s just a gooey mess when you open your sandwich. The bread is just right. Every ingredient is working in conjunction with each other to give you a very pleasant sandwich experience.

The sandwiches comes in three sizes: small (3″), medium (6″), and large (12″). Anything smaller than a large is a waste of everyone’s time. You could finish off a small in two bites, and where’s the point in that? (Unless you’re in an eating contest).

Jerry’s also has a host of other sandwiches, as well as burgers, pizza, and fries, but I love the Philly Cheesesteak so much, I never change my order.

The service is the best it can be for a fast food place: excellent when you’re the only customer, slow when there’s a large order in front of you.

The final question: When is it coming to New York?

Jerry’s Pizza & Subs is located across Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia (www.jerrysusa.com).
